At Postcode Anywhere we take our corporate social responsibility very seriously and are involved in supporting good causes on a local, national and international level.

Here are just some of the things we've been involved with.

Nationally

Internationally

We are proud that over the past 5 years our software has become the address management solution of choice for most major UK charities including British Heart Foundation, Oxfam, Unicef and MIND. We now have over 200 UK charity customers who use our web services to capture donor addresses, show them where fund-raising events are taking place and profile likely supporters. We provide our service to many of them at a subsidised rate and are also proud to have provided our technology free of charge in support of several high profile campaigns and fundraising events.

In the past year we've supported: the Blue Peter Shoebiz Appeal, Comic Relief, the WWF carbon footprint calculator (http://footprint.wwf.org.uk), and Stop Climate Chaos.

When Postcode Anywhere's James Lumb attended the Global Gathering of Salesforce.com in the USA, despite his jet-lag he volunteered to forgo a weekend sightseeing and to instead donate his time to a community project to build a school in San Francisco on the YMCA site at Bay View Hunter's Point, a place notorious for its high levels of social deprivation. The project was a huge one with volunteers representing Amazon, Nokia, Xerox and Oracle. The volunteers laboured hard to excavate footings, mix concrete and construct the building from prefabricated sections and to build a large playground.

James thought the scheme so worthwhile that this September he's roped in Postcode Anywhere MD Guy Mucklow and IT Director Jamie Turner to help with the digging on this year's project!

Locally in Worcestershire

We worked to transform the garden at Manor Park School a centre for children with moderate to profound multiple learning difficulties, autistism, partial sight and with a range of physical disabilities. The school's horticultural study area; including their poly tunnel, nature garden and pond area had suffered a spate of petty vandalism and the pupils were left without one of their most treasured possessions and without the resources to restore and maintain their gardens.

This prompted us to come to the school's rescue and to give up our weekends to fully landscape the garden and to totally transform it into something really special.

We have actively become involved with educational charity, Young Enterprise. A registered charity, the ethos behind Young Enterprise is simply to deliver entrepreneurial education to young people in schools and colleges to encourage and help them develop the attitudes and skills for enterprise, personal success, lifelong learning and employability. Our staff have helped to mentor pupils at Malvern Girls College.

We also sponsored the Young Enterprise annual competition for Best Use of IT for both the West Midlands and Herefordshire and Worcestershire and we will continue to support YE in the future.

I think that quietly the guys at Postcode Anywhere really enjoyed the project. We're thrilled with our lovely sensory garden and water feature. It's great to see community spirit is alive and kicking in Worcester and I would urge other businesses to forge links with their local schools as there's always ways in which they can help them.
