As a leading web services company, we're justifiably proud of our Green credentials. We were one of the first companies to recognise the power of the internet for delivering data from a centrally held server directly to wherever it is required, rather than the outmoded and environmentally-damaging method of posting CDs.
With over 5000 customers, and with 12 updates a year to ship, this saves a massive 60,000 CDs, plus envelopes, covering letters etc. Our automated updates via the web also help to reduce our customers' carbon footprint too because they're not driving round manually updating data at different locations.
At Postcode Anywhere we pride ourselves in doing our bit for good causes, whether this is locally by
supporting children with special needs or helping major charities by providing our services free of
charge.
We're also strongly committed to doing our ethical bit and environmental conservation ranks high on
our CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility – see we've gone all American!) agenda.
Last Christmas we were very happy to help the WWF (Worldwide Fund for Nature by providing
Postcode Anywhere to help them collect the donations they received as a result of ITV's Extinct
programme.
Extinct was a week long series about the threats faced by eight endangered species and the
conservation efforts that WWF and its partners were making to help them.
The programme was a wakeup call showing the impact of global warming and showcased a number of
vital projects that the WWF is involved in. The revenue generated through online donations and
additional fundraising activity will ultimately help the WWF's good work in conserving endangered
species, protect threatened habitats and address global threats such as Climate Change for example.
We're also pleased to be making sure the WWF capture accurate address data from their ongoing
campaign One Plant Living Footprint Calculator.
WWF's footprint calculator is a new online tool to help people measure and decrease their impact
on the planet.
Visitors to http://www.wwf.org.uk/calculator
can take an eco-test that involves answering a series of lifestyle quiz questions. On completing
their responses the participant is then provided with a series of steps devised to help them reduce
their personal footprint.
The campaign has been well supported by lots of well know names such as Melanie C of Spice girl
acclaim and Terry Waite CBE, who's an Ambassador for WWF-UK.
