What this means

Key themes and trends may be lost as we try to make sense of the data, whilst the original purpose of maintaining complete and accurate records to improve business intelligence is wasted.

Visualising information

One of the easiest ways to remedy this problem is to "visualise" the information by showing it on a graph or, depending on the type and nature of the data, to highlight it on a map. Location based information lends itself particularly well to being visualised on a map as you can quickly identify where someone lives from their postcode and by taking the co-ordinates of the address, you can pinpoint that information on a map.

More than that, you can use co-ordinates to quickly filter information so that if you wanted to select customers based on a specific radius of a particular location such as for an event that you were holding, you can easily do that. Alternatively you could use location to quickly filter leads at the point of enquiry, by assigning prospects to the relevant sales manager based on where they live.

If you combined that with our route optimisation service, we could even show you the most efficient way of visiting them as well.

Mash-ups

How you use geo-coding to improve your own processes is really up to you. Lots of developers tend to use location for creating composite applications as co-ordinates provide the link between physical data and maps which helps others to quickly understand it’s significance.

Whatever your requirements maps and location brings life to your data, providing you with the knowledge and insight to help you spot the wood for the trees.
