Creating a Location List
To use our Store Finder service you need to create a list of all of your stores.
Step 1: Create a new list
The first step is to run the through the location list setup wizard by selecting “Location lists” and then “Add a new location list”. You will need to start by giving your location list a name and a description. You then need to select the type of list you want to create: “Normal- Upload lists for free then1 credit per result” or “Prepaid- Pay when I upload lists then 1 credit per query”. The final decision is whether the list will be for just the “UK” or whether you want to create an "International” one.
This will take you through to the “Almost Finished” page of the wizard. As you will see the Javascript has now been generated for you, so select “Copy” to pick it up.
Step 2: Add locations to the list
Each location in your list has four components: Postcode, ID, Name and Description.
There are a number of ways you can upload locations to a list depending on what format you have your list in and how many locations you want to upload:
Uploading as CSV-
You can upload your locations as csv file. The list must have four columns Postcode, Unique ID, Name and Description. Select the “Browse” button and navigate to your file to pick it up.
You have the option when uploading a list it to either “Append” or “Overwrite” your list. The first time you upload a list you will not have anything to overwrite. With subsequent uploads you can “Append” locations if you just want to add new locations on top of your list or “Overwrite” if you want add new items and delete any old locations from your list. Finally click to “Save” to upload your list.
Now you should see the results of your upload. To view and edit the locations you have uploaded select “View”.
Uploading as a Batch-
The second way to upload your locations is as a text batch. The format of the batch is shown below:
This method also gives you the option to “Append” or “Overwrite”your existing list.
Uploading Single Items-
The final option is to upload a single location at a time.
When you have entered the details of your location you choose to upload the item by selecting “Upload” or add another location by selecting “More”.
